We can cater for Stevenage companies' security requirements
Stevenage, the Hertfordshire town and borough, has grown substantially in population even since the start of the twentieth century. While its population was recorded as just 4,049 in 1901, this had increased to 83,957 by 2011. The area is also served by a good variety of businesses, for which our team here at Cannon Guards Security can provide reliable security solutions. Furthermore, we can deliver security training for individuals desiring entry to the private security industry.
A history of enterprise flourishing
In 1281, Stevenage won royal approval for an annual fair and weekly market. However, historically, Stevenage owed much of its prosperity to the North Road - which, in the early eighteenth century, was turnpiked. In 1801, 21 stagecoaches passed through Stevenage daily and were served by many of the High Street's inns. Stevenage continued to grow during the nineteenth century.
There was a major business success story for Stevenage in 1928, when the motorcycle manufacturer HRD Motors Ltd, which had been founded in 1924, was bought out of receivership. The old company had developed a good reputation despite encountering the financial struggles that eventually led it to become defunct in 1928. The motorcycle designer Philip Vincent was its buyer - and he quickly shifted it to Stevenage before giving it the new name Vincent HRD Motorcycle Co Ltd.
That company, which later became known as Vincent Motorcycles, was responsible for manufacturing the Vincent Black Shadow. When introduced in 1948, this was the fastest production motorcycle on the planet. The company discontinued production of motorcycles in 1955; however, the Vincent brand remains a highly prestigious one among motorcycle enthusiasts. Other successes of Stevenage history include British Aerospace's former role as the town's biggest employer.
We are near the doorstep for many Stevenage firms
Today, notable employers in Stevenage include pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, which runs a large research laboratory complex there. The town is home to plentiful small- to medium-size firms. The future of the town's life-sciences sector looks particularly promising; in 2011, Stevenage BioScience Catalyst, a science park intended to attract small and start-up enterprises in this industry, opened close to the GlaxoSmithKline complex.
In fact, the town has continued growing - and, should its businesses see many successive improvements in their revenue and profit takings long into the future, they could find their security requirements growing larger and more complicated. Thankfully, this doesn't have to spark significant worry when our office is so near. That office is in Luton, a Bedfordshire town lying only a 29-minute drive from Stevenage via the A505 road route.
This proximity means that, should you run a Stevenage firm that needs security staff, it doesn't have to take a long time for such staff to arrive from our base. Security staff that we can provide include CCTV operators, door supervisors, and staff in the areas of retail, car park and construction site security. We can also supply security training; there are continuous, on-the-job and more customised on-site options, plus refresher courses for veteran security personnel.
